Regional Workshops
Parent Leadership: “From Passion to Action”

Pennsylvania Parent Information and Resource Center (PA PIRC) is pleased to offer two regionally-based workshops focused on Parent Leadership: “From Passion to Action”. These two-day workshops are designed to support family members working to improve student achievement.  

Participants will consider their own gifts as leaders and be introduced to tools that will build their skills.  They will meet other parent leaders, learn about parent rights and roles with regard to their children’s learning and education, examine the Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) regulations concerning parent involvement and consider opportunities for action that encourage parent involvement.  In addition, parent leaders will meet and work with representatives of statewide and regional parent leadership and advocacy organizations.

Parent leaders are encouraged to attend either of the two scheduled events that is most convenient for them.  Please share this opportunity with parent organization members, school staff, community organization representatives and others who may know parents who may be interested in attending these workshops.

Workshop Details

• Registration begins at 9:00 AM Friday. Workshop sessions will start at 9:30 AM and end at 5:00 PM.  Lunch will be provided.  
• Friday dinner is on your own, but for those who are interested, PA PIRC will host an informal “brown-bag” session focused on building connections with other parent leaders.  The session will be held from 6:00 -7:30 PM.
• Saturday sessions will start at 8:00 AM and end at 2:00 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday.
• There is no fee for the two-day workshop session.  Registration is required and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Please note that any cancellation due to weather conditions will be posted on the Center’s recorded message system by 6:45 AM the day of the meeting. If no cancellation message is posted, training will be conducted. You may reach CSC by calling (717) 763-1661.
