Please join us for the fifth annual symposium to support Pennsylvania’s schools in the development of effective strategies to help students reach their educational and career goals. The 2010 symposium will focus on components integral to developing resilience to enable each student to grow into an inspired, productive, fulfilled life-long learner and to become a responsible citizen.

Sessions focused on the following will be offered:

  • Research and strategies that demonstrate how young people can transform risk and adversity into healthy development and school and life success.
  • Effective strategies for effective programs and services to better serve students at risk.
  • Strategies for how schools and stakeholder groups can work together to improve outcomes for children and youth.
  • Social-emotional learning as an essential part of education.


Who Should Attend?

This symposium will provide valuable information for educators, pupil services personnel, elementary and secondary administrators, guidance counselors and other professionals.

  • There is no fee to attend this event, but preregistration is required.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging. Continuing Education Credits

 

Act 48

The Center for Schools and Communities, as a division of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, offers Act 48 professional development credit for those with Pennsylvania teaching or administrative certificates. Participants must attend the workshop from beginning to end, and provide their Professional ID #, to receive credit. If you are interested in receiving Act 48 credit, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.

Please note: In order to receive Act 48 credits you MUST list your Professional ID # on the appropriate Act 48 paperwork supplied at the event. If you are unsure of your Professional ID #, you can find it prior to the event by going to the Pennsylvania Department of Education Professional Education Record Management System website at https://www.perms.ed.state.pa.us/Screens/wfPublicAccess.aspx, clicking on the ''Get Your Professional Personnel ID'' link and completing the required information.

 

NASW

The Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers will be awarding CE’s for completion of approved workshops.A certificate fee of $20 for NASW Members and $40 for non-members will be charged and can be paid directly to the NASW representative who will be located near the registration area for the duration of the conference.
